"Good news to report to the community: The first batch of participants in the Thrive Young Leaders Training Program has graduated. These forty-one students discussed and learned with me every Saturday from January to April. Not only did they enhance their skills, but last Saturday they gave back to the community with the Thrive Spelling Bee.
This competition was the first large-scale inter-school event of its kind in our county, attracting 150 elementary students of various ethnicities. It was a spectacular event that drew considerable attention! We even had the support of Montgomery County Council members, state delegates, and senators to boost morale!
The participants also reaped great rewards. There was a lively graduation ceremony following the competition. Each participant not only received a diploma but also commendation letters from Senator Van Holland and Representative Jamie Raskin!
Thank you to the Chinese American Parents Association of Montgomery County (CAPA-MC) and all the volunteers for their support. Together, we are working hard to cultivate the next generation of Chinese Americans!
